Miatas at the Museum

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum

Located on the grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the museum has over 75 vehicles on display at any one time. In addition, trophies and awards including the Borg-Warner trophy honoring each winner of the Indianapolis 500, racing equipment dating back to the track's inception, historic photographs and a theatre which presents memorable moments from the track's past are also available.

There are also 2 gift shops located within the museum for you to pick up your track gear while in town for the MMG2008. In addition, you may wish to spend Saturday afternoon (on your own) taking advantage of the museum's narrated bus tours of the track and ground tours which visits the paddock area, the pagoda, gasoline alley and more. The track features a bi-level racetrack with banked corners and a length of over 900 feet. The karts, traveling in excess of 40 mph, utilize digital lap timers next to the steering wheel. Available on Thursday is an Indy Ride Experience where you can ride in a 2-seater IndyCar on the famous Indianapolis 500 racetrack. You'll ride with a professional driver and reach speeds up to 180 mph. The Indy Racing Experience phone number is 888-357-5002. On Friday, experience what it feels like to fasten yourself into a real Indy Car and take it for a drive! You'll go through an orientation program and then put on a driver’s suit, racing gloves, and helmet. Next you'll climb into the Indy Car and be instructed to follow a certified instructor around the course. These are real Indy Cars that competed in the Indianapolis 500. You may reach speeds between 70 and 135 mph, depending on your ability. There are weight limits, so please check their web site for details. The MMG2008 price for this event is $350.00 for 3 laps at hourly intervals throughout Friday. The Indy Racing Experience phone number is 888-357-5002. Putnam Park Racetrack will have motorcycles all day doing timed laps (not racing), the track is open to the public free of charge and has a concession stand.
